Community Relations PDF Print E-mail
Bucktown is a Chicago neighborhood bounded by North Avenue to the south, Fullerton to the north, Western to the west and the Chicago River to the east.

Christine Olson

Vice President of Community Relations

With the BCO having an eye on growth for 2009, Community Relations for the BCO will have an active committee to handle inquiries from the community on the myriad of issues handled by the board.

The Community Relations committee is looking to seat a 3 to 5 person committee that will meet once a month before the BCO general meeting. Members of the committee will be asked to attend CAPS meetings, SSA meetings, consider economic development issues vital to the area, government relations, and aid the general needs of the BCO membership.

If you have an interest in volunteering for community relations, serving on the committee, or have an issue you would like us to consider, please forward an email to christine@bucktown.org.

According to the BCO bylaws, the committee “shall have responsibility for the development and maintenance of contact with all government, social, civic, and religious entities of importance to the community...whose objectives include to strengthen relations and cooperation with these entities and to foster implementation of organization sponsored community projects“.

Cafe Society
Cafe Society is a project designed by the Illinois Humanities Council to foster a more robust civil society, more cohesive and interactive communities, greater media literacy and a more informed and engaged citizenry through weekly coffee shop conversations about contemporary social issues. Current media reports (along with ample doses of caffeine) serve as stimulants for the conversations.

Cafe Society meets with a different weekly topic in locations all over Chicago. Bucktown's own meeting takes place each Thursday at Cafe de Luca at 8pm.
